Abstract: The most important long-term social-economic program ofthe European Union is the Lisbon Strategy, that is, the program accepted at the meeting ofthe European Council in March 2000. It is aimed at making the European Union the leading world economy by the year 2010. Poland, entering the European Union, was became one of those countries that work on achieving the goals ofthe Lisbon Strategy in order to make the EU, in the planned time, “the most competitive and dynamic, knowledge driven economy in the whole world, capable ofstable, continuous development, of creating bigger numbers ofbetterjobs and distinguished by a biggersocial cohesion.”
