As comunidades terapêuticas - História, evolução e a modernidade no tratamento das dependências químicas

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como tema as Comunidades Terapêuticas, sua história, evolução e características, com especial impacto no período desde a segunda Grande Guerra mundial com as experiências de Maxwell Jones e a posterior adaptação ao tratamento de pessoas com problemas de dependência química. Pretende-se demonstrar a evolução qualitativa do tratamento de dependentes químicos desde a 1ª geração das referidas Comunidades Terapêuticas até aos modelos hoje em dia em vigor, com todo o aperfeiçoamento e adaptação às necessidades de teorização e evolução dos conceitos e conhecimentos em psicologia e profissões afins. Pretende igualmente reflectir-se em torno de algumas dimensões que tocam a problemática do dependente químico em Comunidade Terapêutica e demonstrar-se a complexidade deste fenómeno.

The current article has as its main subject Therapeutic Communities, its history, evolution and characteristics. We will look in special to the period after the Second World War with the experiences of Maxwell Jones and the following adaptation to the treatment of chemical dependent people. The qualitative evolution of the treatment of chemical dependent people will be demonstrated since the therapeutic communities of the first generation to the ones today in place. We will also look at the qualitative development and responses to the necessity of theorization and integration of current knowledge in the field of psychology and other professions.
