Abstract: | Entre 1831 e 1925, Londres foi a cidade mais populosa do mundo, até perder esta posição para Nova Iorque. A introdução do caminho-de-ferro, em 1836, e do metropolitano, em 1863, contribuíram para o alargamento da cidade, pela urbanização crescente de zonas circundantes. |
