O Antigo Regime da Saúde Pública entre o Reino e o Brasil

Abstract

RESUMO: Este texto tem, fundamentalmente, dois objetivos. Em primeiro lugar, recensear as principais estruturas e recursos da Coroa no domínio da saúde pública, tanto no Reino como no Brasil, durante o Antigo Regime. Em segundo lugar, desenhar, para os mesmos territórios, a política de saúde pública, em particular no século XVIII, em função do fomento económico, do enorme crescimento demográfico na colónia e da adoção, no Reino, das políticas alinhadas com a Ciência da Polícia. ABSTRACT: This paper has two objectives: firstly, to identify the main structures and resources of the Crown during the Old Regime and in regards to public health, in the Kingdom and in Brazil; secondly, to design a public health policy for the referred territories, especially in the 18th century, considering the economic development, the demographic boost in the colony and the fact that the Kingdom had adopted policies in line with Police Sciences.
